Gold glory for Mutare Hosting the 7th edition intercity games

 

The 7th edition of the Intercity Games in Mutare was a resounding success, with the host city emerging as the overall champion. Mutare won 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, totaling 11 medals. Harare city came in second with 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze medal, totaling 8 medals, while Kwekwe city claimed third place with 2 gold medals and 3 bronze medals, totaling 5 medals. The intercity games brought together athlets from different cities.


The games feactured a wide range of sports including soccer, netball ,athletics ,swimming darts, pool , volleyball and the traditional game of tag of war which was a crowd favourite.The event was filled with excitement, music, and dance, thanks to performances by renowned artists Dorcus Moyo and Sir Calaz. The crowd was electrified by their energetic performances, which added to the festive atmosphere.The Mutare City Council was praised for its support in hosting the event. The mayor  His Worship Councillor S. Chabuka  expressed gratitude to the council for their role in making the games a success, saying, "We thank the Mutare City Council for their unwavering support and commitment to promoting sports development in our city."The event concluded with a grand closing ceremony, where athletes and officials alike were thanked for their participation. The Intercity Games had once again proven to be a platform for promoting unity, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among cities.
